Communist Ottoman Flag by DaemonofDecay Communist Ottoman Flag by DaemonofDecay
Well this came about because I was just screwing around with Photoshop and, due to my Ottoman Empire AAR, was working with flags.

So I decided to create a flag that would be a possible and realistic option for an Ottoman Empire that had held onto most of its territory through the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries and, much like Imperial Russia, had failed to modernize or liberalize its government.

And this isn't related to my Alternate History scenario from before, just in case there are any questions.

Thus while Turkish soldiers are fighting in the bloody conflicts of The Great War revolutionaries take to the streets in Istanbul late in 1917 protesting the war, the lack of food, and every other grievance they have with the government.

Sultan Mehmed V flees the city when it becomes obvious it is no longer safe for him there. Workers take up arms in every city as the troubles spreads, plunging the empire into a dangerous revolution.

you cant edit a TUrkish flag as you wish.. Turkish flag didnt created by someone randomly.. it appeared on floor during our great war.

taht day moon was crescent and had a start next to it and it was reflecting from the blood pool on the ground.. there was so much blood everywhere. so you cant modify our flag like that its disrespectfull for our culture

I respect Turkey and the flag, but this is not a sign of disrespect but simply a thought about what would Turkey's flag have looked like if it had been taken over by a Soviet government. It's not serious nor political in the least.

A rather "late" word of caution, my friend:

Turkish people don't like communism. It's mainly due to the reason that we're a largely conservative folk; people used to die daily in the late 80's because of the anarchist in-fighting between communist and conservationist sympathysants.

An unfortunate err on our fact is, that most communist sympathysants of today's Turkey are usually teenagers who have almost-zero understanding of the concepts of economy and politics. They are all romantic idealist wannabees that try to shove their ideals down people's throats. As you can understand, that puts people off the edge when it comes to even talking to them. And almost every single one of them would stop supporting communism the day the step on the floor of universities; basically they are hypocrites due to their small level of understanding and illiteracy.

Anyways; it is a rather interesting concept. The flag does look somewhat ironic though, with the crescent being the symbol of islamic conservatism and the hammer - lets just say they are regarded as completely opposite symbols.

However, you have my fav! :D

Thanks! I understand the conflict, but then, this isn't meant to promote communism or as a sign of disrespect towards Turkey. Yet people will get upset over such things regardless.

One could argue that the reason they failed to modernize was because of their losses in Europe and elsewhere and the need to maintain a strong central authority figure - the Sultan and Caliph - to hold together an Empire of Turks, Arabs, Kurds, Greeks, etc. etc. etc. Modernization is not easy when you are trying to hold onto absolute power.

Urgh... communism...
No... just no...
That flag is so gorgeous. It's sad to see it with a hammer.

I quite like the Turkish flag - although the Northern Cyprus one is more pleasing to my eyes, honestly.
